[WSSSC] Dual Credit Council Proposal

Dear WSSSC Members,

The Instruction Commission (IC) has formally voted in support of establishing a Dual Credit Council, and the WACTC Educational Services Committee has requested that WSSSC and IC work together to determine how this Council will interact with both commissions before taking this council proposal to a vote in October.

The proposed Dual Credit Council is intended to bring coherence, equity, and strategic direction to this evolving landscape. It will take on critical work, including piloting standardized procedures, updating faculty credentialing, supporting accreditation, and advising on legislative revisions. It will also play a key role in shaping the 2025-2027 CHSA Dual Credit Policy Cohort that SBCTC is leading for the state.

In preparation for the July 17 Hot Topics meeting, my hope is that you can:


  *   Review the dual credit proposal or executive summary and draft bylaws (attached)
  *   Identify questions, concerns, or areas needing clarification
  *   Engage in conversation with your Vice President of Instruction to align perspectives
  *   Come prepared to discuss what implementation could look like for WSSSC, in coordination with IC

This is a pivotal opportunity for WSSSC to help shape a more effective, equitable, and sustainable dual credit system. Your insights and leadership will be essential to ensuring this work reflects the needs and realities of our colleges.
