[Factc] Letter Regarding Faculty Conversions (WA SB 5194) from the Black Support and Solidarity Data Team

Hi Jason,
The use of the FACTC listserv to share information about statewide efforts
to meet the requirements of SB 5194 is appropriate. The state has passed
SB 5194 to address the inequitable completion rates of first generation and
historically underserved students of color. Systemic racism exists on our
campuses. It shows up in equity gaps in completion and retention for our
students and in who we hire and who we are able to retain as employees. We
must use every resource at our disposal to achieve the goals of SB 5194.
When a group of employees of color, such as the Black Solidarity Support
Data team, labors on our behalf to identify how and where system resources
should be directed, we should value their efforts and move forward in
thoughtful response.

These are conversations we need to have in spaces as much approximating
in-person as possible. I will reach out to schedule a zoom conversation
with you later today.

Anne Brackett
FACTC President
