[WSSSC] Pell Grants for prison education-in need of WSSSC representation for taskforce

Hello WSSSC,
Reaching out to see if any you might be interested in participating in the below taskforce regarding Pell and Corrections. We are need of two more reps if possible. Hanan plans on reaching out with scheduling in January. Please let me know 😊


This email is being sent to the following commissions and councils: Instruction Commission, Corrections Deans and Directors, Business Affairs Commission, Budget Accounting & Reporting Council, Student Services Commission, Financial Aid Council, and Research & Planning Commission.
As many of you know, our recent reinstatement of Pell Grants for Prison education programs presents us with an important opportunity to enhance educational access and outcomes for our incarcerated students, and assure the new processes are integrated into college operations.
To effectively navigate this process, we are forming a system taskforce focused on the assessment of student and instructional support systems, and business operations. To the extent possible, the taskforce will strive to mirror this new realm of student interaction to current on-campus work.  Topics we expect to be covered will include:

  *   Tuition payments managed by the Department of Corrections
  *   Faculty credentials
  *   Disability Support Services
  *   Faculty to student ratios
  *   Faculty turnover rates
The processes the taskforce develops will be used in the Department of Correction’s evaluations of each Prison Education Program.
