Hello WSSSC Members,

I write with an update from Olympia this week. Below include the bills that have advanced or died for Student Service, Dual Credit, and Workforce bills. If you make it to the bottom, you'll see what will happen next.

This week we also celebrated national potato day; encountered school delays due to snow; hosted WACTC at SPSCC; and saw a whole lot of bills move or die in appropriations and ways and means.

Perhaps the biggest news, however, is that our very own Carli Schiffner accepted the role of Madam President at Grays Harbor College, effective July 1. We are in a juxtapose of deep mourning and absolute joy for her.

What's Next?
Representatives and senators will be on the floor next week debating and voting on bills that made it past last week's policy committee cutoff and today's fiscal committee cutoff deadlines. As bills pass their originating chamber, committees in the opposite chamber will begin scheduling and hearing those bills to continue in the legislative process. In about a month, the Senate and House will present their budget bills. The Governor's<https://ofm.wa.gov/budget/state-budgets/gov-inslees-proposed-2023-25-budgets> budget has been developed prior to the session start and will begin to take new form. All three budgets will need to align before the end of session, or the term is extended until agreement is reached.

Thank you for staying engaged in the session and for ALL the amazing work you are doing on campus.

As always, if I may furnish additional information, please let me know.

Have a great weekend!
