WSSSC: in case you weren't able to participate in the ACE/NAFSA webinar today, a few of my takeaways:

The MIT/Harvard suit will be heard on the 14th at 3:00 PM Eastern Time, with a decision by July 15. The filing requests a Temporary Injunction and Temporary Restraining Order (TRO). Colleges choosing to stay online for fall term will need to submit their revised operational plans by that date as well, and may not have the benefit of knowing what the judge's decision is.

The broadcast message from SEVS is not enforceable guidance in itself. There will need to be an issuance of temporary final regulations for that to be the case.

The broadcast message is applicable to both new and returning international students.

NAFSA will conduct a webinar on the 16th at 2:00 PM Eastern Time on the topic of practical approaches to meeting the requirements signaled by the broadcast message. Registration will be available later today at nafsa.org.

The Washington AG is planning to file its complaint today or Monday, also requesting a TRO.

You may have received this letter directly from AACC.  Several national higher education associations, including AACC are circulating a letter opposing the new ICE rules for international students.  See below for link to see letter and sign on.

Thank you to all who provided information for our state's Attorney General filing.  It has been very helpful.

As follow up to our Weds discussion, Laura is drafting a letter to our state's members of congress for your consideration.

State Directors -

As I mentioned on our call yesterday (and for those of you who were not on the call), AACC has joined with the American Council on Education and many other higher education associations in drafting an institutional sign-on letter to Congress urging them to take immediate steps to prevent or reverse the recently announced DHS guidance on international students for the fall semester.

We appreciate any of your offices signing on that wish to do so and your help in communicating this opportunity to institutions in your state. AACC will also be sending a communication to its members. We have fielded several inquiries from colleges about this issue and believe many of them are looking for an opportunity to register their position. The deadline for signing onto the letter is 5:00 PM ET Wednesday, July 15. Please let me know if you have any questions.
