Subject: RPC IRB Committee Survey
Importance: High

Hi Joe and Joyce,

Could you please forward this email to the instruction and student services commission listservs? This is a survey designed to address college needs around an IRB, which is part of RPC's work plan for this year.

Thanks,
Darby

Dear colleagues:

Thank you for taking the time to help inform our research into system review of human subjects research needs. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. All responses are anonymous and voluntary. Only aggregate results will be released.

Human subjects research is increasing at community colleges. Outside requests for information, college employees working on advanced degrees and wanting to make use of relatively close data, etc. all contribute to a rise in the necessity to assess our concerns and needs. Research involving human subjects is typically reviewed by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) at traditionally research-focused institutions; however, community and technical colleges do not always have the infrastructure or resources to support an IRB. All federal research grants, even those supporting education, require IRB approval.

The Research & Planning Commission (RPC) has formed an IRB Committee to assess the need for a system-wide solution to this problem and to offer potential models. Your participation in this survey is very important in helping us to do so. Please see the link below and respond at your convenience before November 27, 2017.
