[Wactclc-primo] Possible Proquest Research Library / CDI issue

I had a similar situation with a ProQuest article. It said it was available full text, but when you went to the detailed record it said the article was unavailable. I submitted a Salesforce case. Below is the response I received. FYI... it resolved the problem.

Hi Traci,

I'd like to add some details explaining the system behavior and our recommendation to set the flag "We subscribe to only some titles in this collection" from No to Yes.

"We subscribe to only some titles" flag determines how availability is checked for CDI search results.

If the flag is set to "NO", availability indication for the collection is checked on the collection level (collection id is found in the holdings file) i.e. all the records in CDI matched for the full text indication with this collection will have positive full text indication in brief results.

If the flag is set to "YES", availability statement for the records in CDI will be checked on a title (portfolio) level (ISSN, ISBN or a title match are found in the holdings file), i.e. CDI record metadata will be used to match active portfolios in Alma and only when a match is found, positive availability statement will be displayed for CDI records in brief results.

The linking type of the "ProQuest Research Library" collection is "link resolver", i.e. CDI record metadata will be used to match active portfolios in Alma.

Availability statement for the records full display is determined by the match found between the CDI record metadata and active portfolios data in Alma in real time (not according to the holdings file, like in brief results).

In order to have better availability indication in the brief results the following setting is recommended - you might want to set the "We subscribe to only some titles in this collection" parameter is set to Yes and in this case only the records that find a match with active and existing portfolios will have a positive availability status in brief results, which will be matched with the full text availability and services available for these records.

Thanks,
Orit Asulin

Subject: [Wactclc-primo] Possible Proquest Research Library / CDI issue

I have 3 reported cases now of CDI citations for ProQuest Research Library articles not providing a link to the presumably available full text content.

Pierce: https://sbctc-piercecollege.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/01STATEWA_PIERCE/12mqddp/cdi_proquest_miscellaneous_2396588224
WVC: https://sbctc-wvc.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/01STATEWA_WENVC/1co8q28/cdi_proquest_reports_1707857983
Shoreline: https://sbctc-shoreline.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/01STATEWA_SHORLINE/2vvqlo/cdi_proquest_miscellaneous_2010477414

All 3 examples involve non-standard (text resource, or report) resource types, and they all appear to be program transcripts from National Public Radio (NPR).

Two of the examples above had already been reported via SalesForce.

I’m guessing the issue impacts other institutions as well,

Just a guess, but the issue could be related to a batch of bad metadata from ProQuest / NPR involving those citations.

I’m also wondering looking into the possible impact of the “We subscribe to only some titles in this collection” CDI setting for this collection.

I’ll report back as I learn more and as our cases get updated.
