The alternative coverage list identifies the collections that should be activated in the Primo Central Index...not in Alma...to provide (pretty good, but not perfect) discovery of the Ebsco resources to which you subscribe.  This method is an alternative to using the Ebsco API.  The two options are not mutually exclusive, you can have both.  They both have advantages, but the implications of combining them--activating alternative coverage AND including the Ebsco API in a blended scope--should be considered.

One of the topics that came up in the Leads Meeting discussion is that there may be some Alma collection activations that are artifacts of a less than perfect understanding of how Primo/Primo Central/SFX worked.  In other words, some libraries had things activated in SFX that shouldn't have been and those activations migrated to Alma.

I certainly don't know all there is to know about this topic, so I hope you will participate in the discussion and help each other increase our confidence that discovery and delivery of electronic resources has been fully optimized.
