[LIBRARYDIR] Virtual Chat Question

Pulling numbers for Whatcom CC (~2500 FTEs):
Fall 2022 quarter chat: 193  requests
Winter 2023 quarter chat to date: 65 requests

I've not opened the chats to look at the depth of question. We've one entry point for chat on our department main landing page plus a slide-out widget.

Here is what my faculty member said:
Hi Christie, our usage is pretty good, I think.  In the last month (12/27 - 1/27), we've had 51 uses.  Of course that's less than a month really, since we weren't getting much use during break.  FYI, here's the breakdown through these widgets:


  *   The widget embedded on our Library Canvas page (20  uses)
  *   The widget at the bottom of our homepage (14 uses)
  *   The slide-out widget embedded in Primo and ProQuest (17 uses)


For Fall quarter (9/15 - 12/15), we had 197 reach-outs through those three widgets combined.

We're curious about virtual chat usage at other libraries (ex. AskWa LibChat).

Our usage isn't much and we're wondering about other libraries.

How is your usage? Has anyone decided to drop their chat service? Has anyone added chat or something similar (text messaging...)?
