We've been doing appointments via a shared email account, AskWA, and phone.

HAD a long list of everything they could get from us on our Libguide hours page. Then the Amazing Rhonda, came back this Fall, YEA!!! and in a couple days set up this amazing form using LibWizard that students complete and then is sends an email to our shared account! It requires the details we need so we don't have to email back and forth with the student.

WE LOVE IT!!!!

We use Microsoft Bookings.

Here's our public page for scheduling appointments:
https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/Library1@lwtech.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/

Here is our process, as advertised to students:
What is the process for curbside process?

  1. You will need to select an appointment using the calendar in Microsoft Bookings. Make sure you fill out all the information on the Bookings page.
  2. If you are checking out a new item, make sure you have requested it in Library Search.
  3. You will receive confirmation in email when your appointment has been scheduled.
  4. Show up to the West Parking lot at your scheduled day/time to meet with the library staff person.
  5. Return the item or receive the item that you have requested.
Attached is the email that went out to all students and employees. Also attached is a screenshot of a reduced version of the announcement posted in Canvas.

This is our first week actually doing it. We received four appointments so far, since announcing it yesterday.

We are having students use the scheduler in LibGuides. It is working relatively well. We started using it in March. We have a big widget for students to click on. Our (cheaper) version only allows students to schedule an appointment every ten minutes. We have sent students and faculty multiple emails telling them this is how to schedule appointments. We also have the circulation phone number and email displayed prominently. We created two different videos teaching students how to use the scheduler.

Our circulation staff are basically happy with the way it is working for us. However, we still get emails from faculty and students (emailing reference or individual librarians) and we just redirect them to circulation.

Subject: [LIBRARYDIR] curbside pickup and appointments

Hi all,

We are looking at doing curbside pickup and wonder how you are setting up appointments for students. When they place the hold in Primo, is there a way to have a confirmation message with a link to make appointments? We had been planning to call students after they place a hold because we don't want to have them navigate to a separate webpage to schedule appointments after placing their hold.

Thanks,
Erica
