[LIBRARYDIR] Return on Investment

I am wary when looking at internally produced ROI analyses.

But one of the most exciting things I'm waiting for is for us to work on some analytics for our system. Once we are all comfortable in Alma it would be great to work on some kind of "ROI" - tied to student achievement or success in some way. Gate count and circs are interesting and easy to count - but what's happening for our students and our faculty because of the institutional investment in information resources and professionals?

I have never calculated ROI for our library. It is interesting to see how he did it. Most of it makes sense. One could quibble about the off-campus access to databases. Using the students' cost for a gallon of gas as a measure of the college's ROI doesn't make sense. His total value is divided by the college's allocation to the library so adding in the students' cost of gas is specious. I would be curious to learn what others think.

I would like to post our statistical reports online. My librarians think I am the only one who would be interested in seeing that data. I think it could be interesting especially if the data is dynamic. I was thinking that ALMA would provide the dashboard to make it possible. Are any of the ALMA libraries doing this?

Hi all,

I just found this LibGuide from the Office of the Dean of Libraries at the University of West Florida - http://libguides.uwf.edu/office-of-dean-of-libraries

I was intrigued by the idea of calculating the Return on Investment. Have any of you done this for your Library? They also share their statistical reports. Do any of you do this on your webpages or guides?

Thanks,
Erica
