Subject: DEI position at HECC - recruitment open!

Colleagues,

With apologies if you've received this note from me already...

I am very excited to announce that the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) is hiring for our first permanent Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion position. After years of requesting funding for this important work and several short-term and/or part-time "patches" that we've employed over the years (thank you Cheryl Myers!), the 2019 Legislature finally made funding this leadership position a priority. The HECC's DEI Director will help advance equity within Oregon postsecondary education as a liaison to institutions, community organizations, and policymakers. And the HECC's DEI Director will help advance equity within the HECC agency as we continue our efforts to make our workplace more inclusive.

The HECC's DEI Director will report directly to me and serve as a member of our agency leadership team. I would love your help in circulating this announcement and opportunity to your networks, as well as to specific individuals who you think might be interested in the position. Candidates can apply through the following links, with applications due September 4th.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer- OPA 4

Finally, if you know an exceptional potential candidate who would be interested in learning more about the position in advance of submitting an application, please don't hesitate to put them directly in touch with me.

Best,
