This message will be distributed broadly to the college system.



Dear State Board members, chancellors, and presidents,



Washington community and technical colleges enrolled 123,012 full-time equivalent students (FTES) in fall quarter 2021, a decrease of 8 percent (-10,748 FTES) compared with fall 2020. Colleges enrolled 89,077 state-funded FTES (down 5 percent, or -4,936 FTES), 32,546 contract-funded FTES (down 12 percent, or -4,242 FTES), and 1,389 student-funded FTES (down 53 percent, or -1,570 FTES).



Enrollments were up for:

  *   Apprenticeships: up 14 percent, or +461 FTES
  *   Applied Baccalaureate: up 1 percent, or +34 FTES
  *   Basic Education for Adults: up 8 percent, or +738 FTES
  *   Corrections: up 4 percent, or +74 FTES
  *   I-BEST: up 1 percent, or +21 FTES
  *   International Contract: up 5 percent, or +195 FTES



Enrollments were down for:

  *   Basic Food, Employment and Training: down 8 percent, or -216 FTES
  *   eLearning: down 11 percent, or -12,615 FTES
  *   International: down 17 percent, or -932 FTES
  *   Running Start: down 14 percent, or -3,687 FTES
  *   WorkFirst: down 13 percent, or -114 FTES
  *   Worker Retraining: down 13 percent, or -740 FTES
