Good morning, Beth! 😊
You are correct, depending on which process you use, you will select different queries, and those queries are designed to look and one of those two columns, not both. 🙂
The existing FLF process is tied to queries looking at Var Char
[cid:35e043ac-2a51-4aca-9d90-51428c698a4e]
The new FLF process is tied to queries looking at Var Num
[cid:909f3a1d-08c7-4fe9-934c-9915c10c5342]
Therefore, it doesn't matter if you do or do not have values in Var Char when you're using the Enrollment Intensity FLF process because all it looks at is Var Num 👍
Thank you!
Debbie

Hi Connie,
As we were implementing this and going over it with our team earlier, a good question came up that I wanted to ask for clarification on. When we run the new process to update the packaging variables using numbers and not characters, we realized that although the Var Num values were being populated, the old Var Char values were not being removed. Is this something that we’ll need to worry about, or is it not an issue? I’m assuming that the query being used to assign the FLF is going to be looking at the Var Num values and ignoring the Var Char, but I wanted to make sure that we don’t need to worry about updating both columns when we adjust aid for less than fulltime enrollment.

Hello FA Community!
We have developed a new Enrollment Intensity FLF Process, instructions are attached. The new queries should be in Production on Friday 7/12/2024.
The new process is very similar to the current FLF Process, however you will now be using the Var Num 1-2 fields instead of the Var Char 1-4 fields on the Packaging Variables page.
The new queries are:
QCS_FA_ASSIGN_PKG_VARS_EI
QCS_FA_ENROLL_INT_FLF_ADD
QCS_FA_ENROLL_INT_FLF_REMOVE
QCS_FA_PACK_VARIABLE_LTFT_LIST- Query to find students where packaging variables were adjusted to less than full time values for the prompted aid year. If you already adjusted the packaging variable for future quarters to T/H/L/N, you can use this query to find those student to update the Enrollment Intensity on the Var Num field.
We have added an additional Reason Code of FAEI-Enroll Intent less than 100% to each college’s FLF Service Indicator Code. Please note you will need to have your LSA add this to your Service Indicator Security.
As a reminder you can test this process in PCD. PCD was refreshed on July 1st.
Thank you!
