[Ctclda] Smarter Balanced Placement Agreement Implementation

Friends and Colleagues:

The Smarter Balanced Placement Agreement<http://www.sbctc.edu/resources/documents/about/agency/initiatives-projects/WA_Final_Agreement_CTC_July15.pdf> is a vital part of giving high school students equitable access to a direct pathway from high school to college-level work, as well as the larger movement towards removing barriers with a multiple measures approach.

We've been getting some reports from high school counselors and students that there may be some confusion at some colleges regarding the implementation of the Smarter Balanced placement policy agreement.  Therefore, we're reaching out to a variety of system groups with a connection to the process to clarify some of the issues that have come up (see the attachment to this message).

Please forward this e-mail to college staff involved in any aspect of the student placement process.

Bill Moore, Director of K-12 Partnerships at SBCTC, will be available for a web-based Q&A for anyone with questions in regards to institution-specific issues/problems of practice implementing the SB scores:


*         June 22, 2-3 pm

*         June 23, 4-5 pm

*         June 24, 11 am-noon
