Dear ATC, BLC, and WEC,

I am excited to share with you two funding opportunities to continue the work around the Development of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science programs and SBCTC's new Climate Solutions Program. Both funding opportunities are designed to create opportunities for your faculty to engage at a system level to leverage their combined expertise and experience and to fund work at a local college level. The funding requests are also designed to be streamlined and easy - you simply need to complete a survey for each.

Below my signature line and attached to this email are details for each program. Your responses to both surveys are requested no later than October 28 and the turn around time for awarding funds once we have completed surveys will be short to allow as much time as possible for completing the work.

If you have question about either opportunity or any issues completing the funding survey, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Best,
Val

FY22-23 Funding Opportunities
Computer Science

This program is focused on implementing and scaling Bachelor of Science in Computer Science programs that prepare students for an employment in the growing field of computer science, align with existing and emerging local workforce needs, and center equity as a core program component to increase access for students historically underrepresented in the computer science industry.

Campus Activities A minimum of $20,000 is available to each college to support program development or expansion. Submitted budgets should have specific anticipated expenses and activities that may include faculty stipends for program or curriculum development, funding for convening local employers and industry professionals in support of program development, equipment and supplies, or other activities in support of local program development.

Equity in Computer Science Workgroup Funds are available to support faculty to serve as to leads with a statewide workgroup that will develop the best practices for equity in Computer Science. Funding is also available for faculty to participate in a year-long community of practice.
