Subject: [WEC] WIOA-related Survey -- Increasing referrals

Hi all,

As part of the statewide WIOA implementation work, the Workforce Board has contracted some work out to investigate how our many different agencies and organizations across the workforce system could be better supported in serving job seekers. One way to do that is to consider some common intake and referral frameworks. If our workforce system does this right, more job seekers who need training to secure family-wage employment will find their way to us, and we can better help our students secure additional supports from other areas of the workforce development system.

Below is information about a survey that is part of this work. Please consider taking a few moments to complete it, and feel free to send it to others on your campus who might have additional information.

Thanks!

Community Attributes and Phippen Consulting have been hired by the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board to help advance a few of the goals in the Governor's Training and Prosperity for All plan (also called TAP). Specifically we are conducting research that will help improve system integration and a common intake.
To help us with this work we have developed this survey. The purpose of this survey is to help us:
  1. Identify programs funded outside of normal allocations that directly support workforce system customers. For colleges, this could mean locally funded (from city or county) or privately funded (foundations, trade associations, etc.) student service programs for transitional studies or workforce students, or training programs (cohort training, etc.).; and
2. Identify tools and/or data staff use or would like to have that would improve their ability to connect students with resources offered by other workforce development system partners (WorkSource, DSHS, CBOs, etc.).
It's short, only 9 questions. We ask that you fill it out but also forward this email to your colleagues on campus, such as counselors and financial advisors, and ask them all to fill it out. Ideally we will have multiple responses from multiple colleges.

Not everyone will have answers for every question. That's fine! Only answer the questions you feel comfortable answering.

Finally, we would like to see the questions that customers are asked at intake in your area. If there are forms you can send us that capture those questions, please email them to me. We understand that in many cases these questions are in an electronic format and may not be easily sharable.
