Dear BFET and WorkFirst teams,
I am sorry to pass along the sad news that Jim Crabbe passed away over the weekend. Jim was extremely well respected throughout the CTC system and beyond. His knowledge of Workforce Education, as well as his kind, caring and stabilizing leadership will be greatly missed.

As noted in Jan's email, we will send out information regarding Jim's memorial service as soon as it becomes available.

Subject: Sad news about Jim Crabbe

Yesterday evening I talked to Jim Crabbe's wife, Donna. Jim had a heart attack over the weekend and passed away yesterday. This is sudden and a shock for his family and for all of us.

Jim was a long time, well respected colleague and friend here at the State Board as well as the college system and will be missed by many. Jim was instrumental in putting workforce education on the map for the college system and positioning our colleges as the state's primary workforce education provider.

Our HR office is working with the Washington State Employee Assistance Program to send a representative to our office to coach us on how to face the difficult feelings we might be experiencing. This is not group therapy, but rather a resiliency group. Participation is completely voluntary, confidential and offers thoughts to foster ongoing resilience. Our HR office will send us the date, time and location of the group meeting. For those that prefer a one-on-one meeting, you are encouraged to contact an EAP representative at (360) 407-9490.

We will be notifying folks in the system today. Jim and Donna's families are at their home together. I will let you know about the memorial service once they get that sorted out.

Take care, Jan
