Dear WSSSC Colleagues,

I am writing to provide you with a comprehensive update regarding Get Inclusive accessibility. As a reminder, during our 2023 winter commission meeting, we extensively discussed the pressing matter of Get Inclusive's accessibility challenges and its subpar user experience. We subsequently brought these concerns to the attention of the SBCTC executive leadership for evaluation and advocacy.

Over the past several months, a collaborative effort involving members from various departments, including Student Services, Accessibility, Information Technology, Contracts Office, and the AAG, has been underway. These collaborative discussions have resulted in the attached memo and in the identification and resolution of 12 key issues.

I am pleased to inform you that, based on the exhaustive list of concerns that were submitted, we have successfully addressed the following critical issues:

  * CBC-01: Autoplay for videos has been turned off across all videos.
  * CBC-02: Rearranged slideshow elements to ensure a logical focus order that aligns with the visual sequence.
  * CBC-03: Enhanced the feedback modal behavior to maintain focus within it upon opening.
  * CBC-04: N/A We will not replace the video player.
  * CBC-05: Conducted an accessibility audit of Page 22 and successfully resolved all identified issues.
  * CBC-06 - CBC-09: The infographics were originally created without considering accessibility aspects, leading to some limitations. Efforts have been made to address certain non-disruptive issues while retaining the current design. However, the overarching plan is to replace all infographics with accessible text-only pages.
  * CB 10: In order to make the content accessible for Page 55 and its heading, we have restructured the template used in this page and fixed its headings. We, then, ensured that this was reflected on all courses that utilize that template.
  * CB 11: We have created a new option in the feedback dropdown to allow users to send accessibility feedback. This menu is located on the top right side of the course player, allowing any students to send their feedback to our team.
  * CBC-12: The Vimeo player is embedded within an iframe, preventing direct focus on the play button. Instead, focus is directed to the player container. Extensive testing with screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver has been conducted.

Additionally, Vector Solutions has updated their Commitment to Accessibility Statement<https://vector-solutions.my.salesforce.com/sfc/p/#41000000dzt8/a/4N000002F0n1/GlkWRyTT8YbrZYrCgn7GdSLvqHjt2FfIaMYlURAiCsk>. We have also identified and confirmed the following individuals at Vector Solutions as our primary college points of contacts for accessibility issues:

  * Insaf Boudiaf, Senior Manager of Solutions and Support, insaf.boudiaf at vectorsolutions.com<mailto:insaf.boudiaf at vectorsolutions.com>
  * Algi Ocando, Solutions Specialist, algi.ocando at vectorsolutions.com<mailto:algi.ocando at vectorsolutions.com>

We wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Executive Director Paul Francis, Deputy Director Grant Rodeheaver, Associate Director of Accessibility Monica Olsen, Contracts Officer Abraham Rocha, VPSS Michelle Cruse, as well as our valued contacts at Vector Solutions. Their involvement, consultation, and exceptional leadership that were instrumental in driving the successful resolution of these issues.

Should additional concerns or observations arise in the forthcoming terms, please do not hesitate to bring them to SBCTC Accessibility Office<mailto:molsson at sbctc.edu> and Vector Solutions attention. Your continued collaboration and insights are vital to maintaining the high standards of accessibility and user experience that we strive to achieve.
