[Wactclc-alma] [EXTERNAL] - Change Due Date of Lost Item?

The Alma API one of the ways Alma is designed to handle one-off transaction processing like this.

Lesley, I created an analysis that I think identifies the items you’re talking about. There aren’t that many, if my report is correct.

Look in the Pierce shared folder in /Wade, report name, LOST Due in Dec 2020 Students, and see if that looks correct.

If so, I can try to set these to Found and extend the due date.

The manual way to report LOST items as found is via the manage patron services workflow.


·         Go to Fulfillment >> Manage Patron Services

·         Scan/Type patron ID (If typing ID, click Go)

·         On the Loans tab (the default), change the Loan Display drop-down to All Loans

·         Find the item in the list

·         Click the row action item list icon (the ellipsis) and select Found

·         Click OK to complete

·         The item will return to a status of Loan, and any replacement fees will be removed

Lesley- We had this same problem at Edmonds. Unfortunately there is no job that converts process status from Lost to Loan nor will extending the due change the status. Clare and I had to manually mark hundreds of loans "found" before extending the due date. It was absolutely maddening. I wish Ex Libris had a fix for this.

I think once a book is “lost” you can’t just change the due date back to an earlier date.  But I’m not sure what you’d need to do to accomplish what you need to do!

Hi all,

Pierce College has been doing a lot of Alma gymnastics while trying to accommodate both ctcLink and COVID issues! One of the changes we made inadvertently extended the due date of for some students who were in Alma as Staff. They now have items due in December even though they were actually due in June and Alma has marked them as “lost.”

We want to move their due date back to the end of this quarter (8/20), but we get an error every time we try that in Fulfillment: "Due date of 1 out of 1 loan/s failed to be changed".

Any ideas?
