[Wactclc-alma] Kanopy DDA

Thanks Dan,

Our concern with the $2 option is the fact that they do have to login with Kanopy accounts, where everything else on campus- registration, Canvas, library databases- all use ADFS/BC login.
Interesting to learn your experience with it!

Hey Nicole,

We switched to the $2 option back in October and we love it. We only have a few months worth of spending reports, but, we saved about $500 last fall versus Fall 2017, and comparing Winter 2019 to Winter 2018 shows nearly a 50% reduction in costs, yet with more views. It's been fantastic.

Our Foundation makes deposits into our Kanopy account when it gets low. We'll be due for another deposit after the end of summer.

We've only received one real complaint about Kanopy and that's about the user accounts it forces patrons to sign up with. It's a headache but we tell patrons that the Kanopy account is good for the public library's access portal too.

Hi everyone,

I sent this out last week but I don’t think that it sent properly.

We currently use Kanopy (and Swank) to buy individual titles. This is an expensive way to purchase films and we’ve recently learned about Kanopy’s DDA option.
Do any of you use the Kanopy DDA option? If so, we have a couple of questions:
• Has Kanopy PDA been successful for you?
• How much money have you spent on the PDA program? We have terrible visions of spending way too much…
• What complaints do you have about Kanopy PDA?
• Is there anything else you would like to share?

Kanopy also offers a $2 per film option, but as users would need a Kanopy ID, we think this would be troublesome. That is why we are looking at the PDA option.

If you could reply off list, I would appreciate it greatly. Please let me know if I can answer any questions that you might have.

Thanks,
Nicole
