Good morning colleagues -

Happy Friday. I want to pass along a few staffing updates:

I am thrilled to share the news that Deputy Executive Director for Business Operations Choi Halladay will return on Monday, September 16. Choi is a valued member of the SBCTC family and our entire system, and I appreciate any help you can provide to update him on work that occurred in his absence. He'll return on a phased schedule (three days the first week and four days the second week) before returning full time the week of September 30. His contact information and office remain the same.

I thank John Boesenberg for serving in the interim deputy role over the past four months. John's many decades of distinguished service to our agency and our colleges served us well during what turned out to be an extraordinarily busy summer. We will all miss his professionalism, kindness, and humility. John will remain with us for the next week to ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you as well to everyone in the Business Operations Division for their outstanding work in Choi's absence and for their successful collaboration with John.

Second, I am sad to report that Executive Assistant Julie Walter will be leaving the SBCTC at the end of the month to return home to Nebraska to spend more time with her beloved family.  Julie has been an invaluable member of the SBCTC team for 23 years. She began as a temporary employee and served as WACTC coordinator for more than 10 years. I've been blessed to work closely with Julie over the past two years - she is the ultimate problem solver and has served our State Board extremely well. There is always laughter in the office when she is around. Julie possesses a remarkable institutional memory that cannot be replaced.

We will begin a search for Julie's successor soon. I hope to name a successor later this fall. Thank you.
