Hello SSEMC,
A few important and time-sensitive updates. Please share with anybody else who should know this information.
Vending machine grants
The Washington Student Achievement Council held a webinar on Wednesday to inform colleges about the process for applying for a vending machine grant. In reply to a few questions, Ami Magisos, who is administering the vending machine grant application on behalf of WSAC, reassured colleges that the direction to “address the shopkeeper license requirement” (see attached information sheet) should not deter or delay colleges from submitting their applications starting September 9.
Colleges do not have to actually secure a license before applying. Ami would find it acceptable to state that “xxxx College is seeking further clarification about shopkeeper licensing and, if selected for a grant, would fully comply with all requirements.”

Naloxone and fentanyl test strips for higher education funding
If you missed the August 30 deadline to apply for naloxone and fentanyl test strips through the Department of Health’s “Naloxone and fentanyl test strips for higher education” program, you still have a chance. The Department of Health has moved the deadline to request fentanyl test strips and naloxone to October 31, 2024 because supplies are still available.  The request form is available here<https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=F-LQEU4mCkCLoFfcwSfXLWhLvj_AP9VHsoKcApeHbeNUM0E0V1pGNENTTzhXQ0FHM1VLWk5YUElDQS4u&route=shorturl>.
The Department of Health is going to contact all colleges that applied by August 30 to notify them of their status and further steps. For any colleges that apply between now and October 31, the department expects to ship their supplies no later than January 2025.
Colleges can also continue to apply, year-round, for naloxone from the DOH Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution<https://redcap.doh.wa.gov/surveys/?s=DPP4FNJRJ3Y8XEEA> program.”
The Department of Health has also approved of this message.
