Hi WSSSC-


Oregon puts on an annual Student Success and Retention Conference in
Portland. They just extended their call for proposals. It's a quick
turnaround but sharing it in case you have folks interested in submitting a
proposal and/or attending the conference.

*A $50 discount on the conference registration fee will be provided for the
primary presenter of all selected sessions. If you plan to submit a
proposal, please wait to register until notices are sent to presenters in
order to receive your discount.*

Conference Tracks

The conference has three tracks connected to the theme and are used to
organize the content and presentations into distinct categories.


*Theme: Empowering futures through innovation and adaptation *


*Track 1: Adapting to Emerging Educational Needs *

Institutions must address the diverse needs of their student populations
and communities and adjust to new educational priorities. Sessions in this
track could address strategies your institution is using to meet
initiatives such as:



   -

   Statewide committees and priorities
   -

   Emerging Hispanic Serving Institution
   -

   Credit for prior learning
   -

   Adult learners (andragogy)
   -

   Highschool partnerships
   -

   Co-requisites
   -

   Onboarding/welcoming
   -

   Enrollment management
   -

   Guided Pathways
   -

   FAFSA changes
   -

   Title IX changes
   -

   Accessibility



*Track 2: Technology and Innovation in Operations *

How technology may be used to optimize operational efficiency to support
business processes and services. Emphasis is placed on using technology to
enhance services and improve institutional outcomes. Sessions in this track
could showcase how your institution is leveraging technology and innovation
in these potential areas:

   -

   FAFSA changes
   -

   Innovative teaching practices
   -

   Assessment
   -

   Data collection and reporting synthesis
   -

   Business process development
   -

   Bots and bad actors
   -

   Artificial Intelligence
   -

   Leveraging technology to support student services
   -

   Communication through technology (mobile app, texting, social media,
   drip campaigns, etc.)
   -

   Enrollment management, student success through data, retention, early
   alerts using technology, predictive analytics



*Track 3: Supporting Students and Staff in a Changing Landscape *

Colleges must streamline student success and retention efforts, ensuring
comprehensive support from entry to completion in today’s fast-changing
higher education landscape. Colleges must also support, retain, and develop
staff. Sessions in this track could highlight ways your institution is
addressing topics such as:



   -

   Conflict management
   -

   Customer service, front line service, and referrals
   -

   Mental health
   -

   Working with students and / or staff from different generations
   -

   Case management strategies
   -

   Accessibility
   -

   Connection and partnership between student services and academic affairs
   -

   Basic needs and wrap-around supports and services
   -

   Staff evaluation, retention and professional development
