Join us for an information session on the Washington Student Experience survey (WSES, postsecondary basic needs survey) on Friday, September 6, 10am - 11am.  Register here<https://wsac-wa-gov.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZElduGrrTssEtNRYTi_oSc_RJr5Un-qeL8P>.

Background:  Unmet basic needs represent a significant barrier to students' success and Washington's state goal of 70% postsecondary attainment. State, regional and institutional data on the prevalence of students' unmet basic needs can help Washington better understand and more effectively tackle basic needs barriers to postsecondary attainment (more info attached).  Postsecondary Basic Needs Act (2SHB 1559<https://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2023-24/Pdf/Bills/Session%20Laws/House/1559-S2.SL.pdf?q=20240322103652> 2023) requires a state-level survey on postsecondary basic needs prevalence and resource access in Fall 2024.

To complete this requirement, WSAC is working with SBCTC and community and technical colleges to administer the Washington Student Experience Survey (WSES basic needs survey) as a census survey with all public institutions in Fall 2024. In contrast to the 2022 administration of this survey<https://wsac.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2023.BasicNeedsReport.pdf>, the 2024 survey will be centralized and streamlined through SBCTC in partnership with lead institutional partner Western Washington University.  This survey will be fielded October 28 - November 22, 2024.

Information session:  Join us for an overview and discussion on this census survey on 9/6/24 10am.  You'll learn more about the survey purpose, administration, and how it can help your institution and region better understand and address basic needs insecurity issues.  We'll also discuss ways you can promote students' survey engagement, with the goal of high survey participation rates.
