Hello!
Things are about to get moving with Gainful Employment/Financial Value Transparency reporting, so please ensure your college signs up for the National Student Clearing House support service as soon as possible (if you haven’t already). This service is free of charge and will take care of the ‘heavy lift’ of most of the reporting function. Note that there are step by step webinars and documentation produced by NSC available at the links below. If you have any difficulty accessing the guidance materials or webinars, please let us know and we will assist you and send out the associated documentation.
What colleges need to do:
* Complete the registration for the NSC GE/FVT reporting service with NSC
* Ensure that your Financial Aid staff and Institutional Research staff are communicating on roles and responsibilities – again, if there is any confusion about data access, permission, or roles, please reach out at the email below and we will help. Given the pressures on financial aid staff, if you have IR staff that can provide support and also review the NSC webinars and procedures, that is recommended. Many IR staff have valuable experience of GE reporting, and can provide insight on data reporting requirements.
* Ensure 23-24 completions are processed as promptly as possible; so that they are included in the NSC reporting.
Here at the SBCTC, we are continuing to work on the following:
* Identifying programs that prepare students for licensure or certification, so that we can assist you in collecting and preparing licensure and certification completion rates, which the NSC cannot provide. Thank you to all those who provided us with program information via the survey sent out last month.
* Preparing to provide support for any question your teams may have on the program lists, completers lists, or data points that are not included in the NSC reporting service.
* Preparing additional data that is not included in the NSC reporting service
* Preparing guidance for any colleges that have ‘failing’ GE/FVT programs
If you have any questions at all on GE/FVT reporting and what you or your college needs to do, who can help, or you need resources or documents and don’t have time to search for them (it is a maze of information), please reach out to Summer Kenesson, Director of Policy Research, at the SBCTC, on skenesson at sbctc.edu<mailto:skenesson at sbctc.edu>.
Thank you,

Dear Summer,
They’re here! The Financial Value Transparency (FVT) and Gainful Employment (GE) reporting requirements from the Department of Education (ED) went into effect on July 1, 2024. Nearly all institutions are required to report their programs and students who participate in Title IV Aid. To help you comply with these complex new requirements, the National Student Clearinghouse will soon release our new ─ and FREE ─ FVT/GE reporting platform.
Your institution can use the Clearinghouse for FVT/GE reporting by signing an amendment to participate in our new service. You can download a Word or PDF version of the amendment using one of the links below.
Please return your completed and signed amendment to
GEreporting at studentclearinghouse.org<mailto:GEreporting at studentclearinghouse.org>. A Clearinghouse Activations representative will contact you to help you activate and begin using your service.
