[Wsssc] College Takeoff: $75k grant opportunity

WSSSC Colleagues,

We were recently contacted by Inside Track who is working with USC on a grant you may be interested, the turnaround is rather quick. I write to inform you about an opportunity for your college to receive a grant of $75,000. The grant, called College Takeoff, aims to support initiatives that promote the success of men of color on campus. Community colleges that have a demonstrated commitment and plan to advance student success for men of color are eligible to submit a proposal. Each selected college will need to assemble a six-member team who will represent the campus in this initiative and be the main point of contact with coaches, eConvenings, and the in-person kickoff session.

The deadline for submission is fast approaching on April 10, 2023. To apply, interested parties must answer three prompts, which are summarized below:


  *   In 500 words or less, describe the current challenges that men of color face on your campus, including relevant details about the regional and local community surrounding the campus and historical context.
  *   In 1000 words or less, please describe how the $75,000 grant will allow your college to take a novel and innovative approach to improving equitable outcomes for men of color on your campus.
  *   In 500 words or less, describe your desired outcomes, your institution's capacity to collect and manage data, and your ability to participate in the evaluation.
