Subject: UW Psychiatric Consultation Line Info

Arlen-

I wanted to make sure your campuses have awareness about the new UW Psychiatric Consultation Line.  As you might recall, the PCL was established in July 2019 and funded by the state with bipartisan support to respond to the need for mental health services across Washington state. The Consultation Line assists prescribing providers in a wide variety of settings, such as primary-care clinics, community hospitals, emergency departments, substance use disorder treatment programs, and city/county correctional facilities. This includes prescribing providers serving students at institutions of higher education.

Health care providers who have a question about how to address complex patient needs can call the line and get immediate recommendations from a UW Medicine psychiatrist. The Consultation Line transitioned to being available 24/7 on July 1, 2020. We invite you and your colleagues to utilize this resource when caring for the mental health needs of your patients/students.
