[Wactclc-primo] [EXTERNAL*]- Ghost Record

Ex Libris response from a case we filed in April 2020:

Ghost records are shown in Primo when there is a record that no longer exists in Alma, but is still contained in the Primo index. When that occurs, Primo shows a placeholder ghost record. This functionality was added in September 2019 due to a problem where searches were failing. See this from the release notes:

In some cases, searches were failing when records that were removed from an institution's database still existed in the network index. This has been temporarily fixed by replacing each of these records with a dummy record in the UI to prevent the search from failing. With an upcoming fix, the records will be removed from the index completely.

In the March 2020 release, an additional enhancement was added. If Primo needs to show a ghost record, it then deletes the record from the index. It takes approximately 15 minutes for the deletion to complete. After the record is deleted, it will no longer show up as a ghost record in search results.

Do you know what that record could have been, or maybe it's something that is being deleted from one of the electronic collections in the CZ? I don't know if those would show up that way or not...

Hi Traci:

I had the very same thing show up when I was messing around with creating a collection yesterday.  In my case the "ghost record" showed up in Primo because I decided to de-activate and delete an open source electronic collection, and the records from that collection showed up as "ghost records." It took until the next day for these ghosts to disappear from Primo. So, maybe that's what's going there, too?

Hello,

I was doing some searching in Primo and ran across this: Deleted Ghost Record.

When I clicked on "Ghost Record" and "Not Available", nothing is displayed. They aren't joking about it being a ghost record. 🙂 Is there a way I can get this to not show up in Primo?
