[Wactclc-primo] Possible Proquest Research Library / CDI issue

Just an update on this issue...

I did start a discussion on Primo-L about this issue, and other Alma/Primo customers have had similar issues.

It appears to be related to citation metadata, and not CDI configuration settings.

The issue also appears to be tied to ProQuest citations from non-traditional sources, like transcripts and so on, which seem to be marked in the CDI as miscellaneous, text resources, or reports.

A couple of customers noted the via SF tickets they've been told some citation corrections are coming in the Feb 28 CDI update. According to those customers, the corrections are by citation source (NY Times, for example), and not across all sources.

So, if true, we may not see any change in behavior of our NPR-based examples.

In any case, I opened a SF ticket myself on this, as a general CDI issue. The issue is actually easy to duplicate in any Primo / VE instance where a customer has Research Library activated.

You can search for one of the CDI record IDs, such as cdi_proquest_miscellaneous_2010477414.

The citation is discoverable (meaning Primo thinks it has access), but no OpenURL link is available.

I'll report updates to the issue as they come in.

I have 3 reported cases now of CDI citations for ProQuest Research Library articles not providing a link to the presumably available full text content.

Shoreline: https://sbctc-shoreline.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/01STATEWA_SHORLINE/2vvqlo/cdi_proquest_miscellaneous_2010477414

All 3 examples involve non-standard (text resource, or report) resource types, and they all appear to be program transcripts from National Public Radio (NPR).

Two of the examples above had already been reported via SalesForce.

I'm guessing the issue impacts other institutions as well,

Just a guess, but the issue could be related to a batch of bad metadata from ProQuest / NPR involving those citations.

I'm also wondering looking into the possible impact of the "We subscribe to only some titles in this collection" CDI setting for this collection.

I'll report back as I learn more and as our cases get updated.
