[Wactclc-primo] My eBooks EBSCO are resolving to the ADMIN . Sign in page... Re: [External] EBSCO eBooks & Linking Issues

The parser override setting is actually on the electronic collection in Alma.

Find the relevant electronic collection, use the '...' menu for the collection to go to 'Edit Service', then go to the linking tab.

I reviewed:  https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/070Alma-Summon_Integration/050Display_Configuration/010Configuring_the_Services_Page

I found the Links menu. It has 11 things. I would expect to see EBSCO here? But I may not be in the right configure with the right links tab. I went: Configuration Menu > Discovery > Display Configuration > Configure Views

If I go to Add Link ( Do I?) there's space for Code. Level. URL. Would I add the second URL and build something for EBSCO? In that case what is the code and level?

Or am I in the wrong place?

I see 8 ebsco ebook collections activated in Big Bend Alma, all with the same name:

eBooks EBSCO (Ebscohost Ebooks Comprehensive Academic Collection (North America))

I'm not sure what the difference is in each of those, or which one is causing you issues.

However, one recent issue with Ebsco ebook collections has been discrepancies in the code used in the "dbase" URL parameter when attempting to navigate to an ebook title at Ebsco from Primo.
I'm not sure what causes the issue, but there is a remedy.

For the affected collection, you can override the parser set up in the collections service in Alma, by editing the collection service ("Linking" tab of the edit service page).

For example, if the collection is using the following parser:

url=https://search.ebscohost.com & shib=$$SHIBBOLETH & customer_id=$$CUSTOMER_ID & athens_id=$$ATHENS_ID & u_shib=$$U_SHIBBOLETH & sso=$$SSO & dbase=e025xna

Edit the service and add a parser override with the old netlibrary dbase. The only change is the code specified for the dbase parameter:

url=https://search.ebscohost.com & shib=$$SHIBBOLETH & customer_id=$$CUSTOMER_ID & athens_id=$$ATHENS_ID & u_shib=$$U_SHIBBOLETH & sso=$$SSO & dbase=nlebk

Save the change, do a new search in Primo, and retry.

My eBooks EBSCO off campus access is resolving to the system EBSCO ADMIN sign in page and not our BBCC login. The link we use in Databases A-Z is working normally.

I see there had been issues in Feb, but not this one. Is anyone else having this issue? What's my next move?

Thank you.

As of this morning, the Ebsco ebook linking issue has been resolved by ExLibris.

So, if you had put in the temporary parser override workaround that I shared earlier this week, you should remove that override now.

ATTENTION: This email contains links. Please follow best practices before clicking on links I found that my Ebsco ebooks in Primo are all resolving to the Ebsco Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection instead of the eBook Collection (EBSCOhost). I have yet to encounter any actual error messages like you have, and many books actually do open correctly (although with the wrong database showing in Ebsco). But some open to a completely different article rather than the ebook. All of our 14,000 Ebsco ebooks are purchased titles, we don't get any from subscriptions.

So many people have opened cases and they are well aware of the issue, so I'm planning to just wait to see what they figure out.

Hi All,

I have seen a lot of conversation on ALMA-L, [ALMA-L] EBSCOhost ebooks - Link resolver going to wrong database. I noticed this with our own EBSCO eBook collections yesterday (Academic and Clinical eBooks). Today, I tested this by searching a title, Emergency Imaging: A Practical Guide<https://sbctc-btcctc.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/01STATEWA_BTC/5ik1d1/alma992319516902804>, in our Clinical eBook Collection. I got an error in the HttpHandler that is requesting me to log in.

[cid:image001.jpg at 01D5ED46.CA11B770]

The parser is EBSCO_HOST::netlibrary for both eBook Collections. The parser parameters for both collections is url=https://search.ebscohost.com & shib=$$SHIBBOLETH & customer_id=$$CUSTOMER_ID & athens_id=$$ATHENS_ID & u_shib=$$U_SHIBBOLETH & sso=$$SSO.

Rael Elstein, from Ex Libris, sent out this email this morning that was sent out this morning.

We would like to update that we are investigating this issue with our colleagues at EBSCO.
We will provide an update as soon as possible.

Do you recommend that I open a Salesforce Case about this issue, or should I just wait.

Traci
