[Wactclc-primo] Primo May 2019 Release is now available

I’m sure all of the locally hosted Primo instances are in legacy environments.

I’m sure ExL stopped allowing self-hosting for new customers a while back. Not sure when.

Unrelated, but locally-hosted Primos are INCREDIBLY discouraged by Ex Libris. I honestly have only met one site that has one, and I can't even remember their name...

On top of the administrative and technical cost, they don't even get REST API access. Wade, do you know if ExL even allows new customers on VE to be self-hosted? I know OCLC nixed that with ILLiad back in the day.

Thanks for the question, Traci.

As noted in the original msg from Ex Libris, Primo updates for cloud customers (like us, and I believe all Alma / Primo sites) are handled by Ex Libris, and don’t require any customer intervention.

This message applies only to customers that still host Primo locally. That would include some sites that run Primo on top of some other ILS besides Alma.

Hi Wade,

Do we need to do anything about downloading the service pack? Doesn’t ExLibris do this automatically?

Thanks,
Traci

[ExLibris]

Dear Colleagues,
I'm happy to let you know that the May 2019 Release of Primo is available for customers on the FTP server. Please download and install the May 2019 Release according to the Service Pack Installation Guide.
To see the scope of the new version, please review the Release Notes that can be found on the Ex Libris Knowledge center, under https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/2019/2019_Primo_Quarterly_Updates
Once you have installed the new release, you will be able to view the Release Notes by using the “About” menu in the Primo back-office interface.
Please note that Primo releases are cumulative and contain fixes of previous releases. Customers upgrading from Primo versions earlier than service pack 4.8 should consult earlier Service Pack announcements and Release Notes for related Technical Notes.
For additional information please also refer to the “Unified SP Notes” document located on the Knowledge Center under http://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes_and_Videos/Unified_SP_Notes

Cloud Customers
As always, customers whose Primo system is in the Ex Libris cloud have received a notice about their upgrade to the May 2019 release, which is carried out by Ex Libris.
Please don’t hesitate to contact your Support team if you have any questions.

Best regards,
Julia Goldshtein
