[Wactclc-primo] [External] ISBN display for records

Amy / Elena,

There may be something in the default display normalization for identifier that is causing the LC to be prioritized.

Go to Discovery / Manage Display and Local Fields

And add a display field for identifier, and replace the default normalization code with the following:


rule "Primo VE - Identifier 020z"
               when
                              MARC is "020"."z"
               then
                              set TEMP"1" to MARC "020"."z"
                              add prefix (TEMP"1","$$CISBN$$V")
                              create pnx."display"."identifier" with TEMP"1"
end

rule "Primo VE - Identifier 020a"
               when
                              MARC is "020"."a"
               then
                              set TEMP"1" to MARC "020"."a"
                              add prefix (TEMP"1","$$CISBN$$V")
                              create pnx."display"."identifier" with TEMP"1"
end

rule "Primo VE - Identifier 022"
               when
                              MARC is "022"."a"
               then
                              set TEMP"1" to MARC "022"."a"
                              add prefix (TEMP"1","$$CISSN$$V")
                              create pnx."display"."identifier" with TEMP"1"
end

HI Wade:



For the record in question,Tinderbox: the untold story of the Up Stairs Lounge fire and the rise of gay liberation, the record has two 020 fields with the correct, valid ISBNS. Why are those fields not appearing as the ID? It appears to be pulling from the 010 instead. I want to set Identifier to pull from the 020 fields.

The LC will display in cases where you don't have a valid ISBN or ISSN in the record.



I'd look in the associated bib record and make sure you have a valid ISBN or ISSN

I was wondering the same thing yesterday when I was adding "Books in the Catalog" items to a Libguide and needed the ISBN quickly, but hadn't yet investigated it...

I had a question from one of our librarians who was hoping to see the ISBN number display for an item in Primo. Right now, the Identifier is an LC number. Is there a way to change that to be ISBN or to add the ISBN as an additional field to display?

I am in the Discovery Configuration|Configure Views| Full Record Services | Record Details | Edit Full Display Details and I can't see a way to do this.
