[Wactclc-primo] Primo Display Record Doesn't Match Alma Record

Naoko,

You are correct, the Publishing to Primo job really has no effect once you move to VE, and can be disabled for the purposes of VE. But it’s not currently hurting anything, and is still publishing updates to your old Primo instance*

The Alma publishing process is run after the bibliographic, holdings, circulation data, and optional course reserves data has been populated in Alma.

I don’t recall this question being part of a Primo VE checklist eitehr. Maybe an oversight. Or maybe to account for allowing comparisons between Primo and Primo VE for a while after go-live.

*Note that the previous Primo instance continues to be available, if you know the URL to use, for example, for Highline:

All of our Primo (non-VE) instances are on a single host server, Primo NA08. So until everyone is on VE, the old Primo instances will continue to exist.

Thank you, Wade. I just don’t know why the Publishing to Primo job is still running every six hours with the number of records processed, if the profile is not supposed to be used for Primo VE:

Good question, Naoko, and good find in the documentation.

It appears that headings enrichment does not take place in Primo VE.

So, if you’re on VE, you might as well disable headings enrichment, since nothing is going to happen with it anyway.

In the Publish to Primo profile, is “Headings enrichment” selected? We turned if off because we were seeing some data we didn’t think were right or needed.

This may be a question for catalogers or it may be a question for Primo wizzes.

We noticed some character display issues in one of our records:

But I’m not seeing an 880 in the MDEditor. In fact, a lot of the fields in Primo aren’t in Alma.
