[Wactclc-primo] Searching Course Reserves by Department

Wade,

That's a good idea and may be what we have to do. I am going to file a Salesforce case because I think Primo isn't working the way it is intended. We also have been using Amy's method to find reserves by using the faculty member's name, but that doesn't always work. For one thing, some of our students don't even know their instructors' names!

What about just spelling out the course name:

Allied Health 108

Instead of using AH 108

That way, if the user searches for 'allied' or 'allied health', they should get the expected results.

If you had a lot of allied health reserves, then the results would be larger than a single course.

But more results might be better in this case than fewer, and the user would then have faceting to fall back on.

When we created our courses for course reserves we entered the course code, course name, and department (e.g., AH108, AH 108, Allied Health).

When we search Primo under our Course Reserves scope and search by Course Department (e.g., Allied), it finds nothing. If we search by the beginning of the course name (e.g., AH), then it finds all of the Allied Health books and in the facets lists the Course Department as AH rather than Allied Health.

When students search course reserves by department, they won't know to use the abbreviation and will get zero hits. Is anyone else having this problem or found a solution?
