Yes, you need an SSL certificate.

But best practice for EZProxy is to run via https:// anyway (for user security), and https:// always requires a certificate.

For best results in EZProxy, you want a "wildcard" certificate, that covers:

*.your-ezproxy-server-name.your-domain.edu

So, for SVC, that would be a wildcard certificate for:

*.ezproxy.library.skagit.edu

So, if I'm reading this right, our college also needs to have an SSL Certificate with EZProxy (in addition to pasting this stanza into our config.txt file) in order for ProQuest to work right, correct?

The link I provided is to the ProQuest stanza to be used in the ezproxy config.txt file.

You should replace whatever stanza you currently have for proquest with the new one.

I've seen a couple of reports recently of issues with using proxied ProQuest links.

If you experience any ezproxy ProQuest issues, the first thing you should do is make sure you are using the most recent config.txt ezproxy stanza for ProQuest.

A fresh stanza was published on OCLC's ezproxy support site as of June 7, 2017.
