[LIBRARYDIR] Notice - Please ignore Gale invoices

Hello everyone,

This message is intended for all libraries participating in the Gale Cengage database package provided through the Washington State Library's Statewide Database Licensing project. It appears that Gale's automated invoicing system has sent out renewal invoices to many WA libraries. These are unauthorized, and the amounts listed are incorrect. They should be ignored.

We are currently collecting information on current participation levels, current subscriptions, and our normal timeline is to announce the "renewal" officially at the beginning of May, giving libraries until the end of the month to submit cancellation notices. Then the final cost for participating libraries is calculated, and sent to Gale, after which they should issue the authorized renewal invoices. If necessary, we can move this timeline up, but this has been our standard practice for many years in the past.

I apologize for the confusion caused by these invoices, and I sincerely regret that they were sent out. I have communicated my concerns to Gale, and they are planning to send out a message rescinding the invoices.
