Bellevue College Library is still moving forward with our M-Th 9am-4pm reopening time for fall quarter. BC President modified the mandate for return to campus for all services to be optional. Due to ctclink migration and COVID precautions many student services are continuing to operate remotely. I checked in with our library staff this week and they are still on board for reopening at the start of fall quarter (Sept 27).

Hi all,

I appreciate seeing what folks are planning for fall-thanks so much for sharing and thanks for Dawn for organizing into a handy spreadsheet. I haven't shared Seattle Central's plans because we were in flux just about the time this conversation began. That's when the Seattle District pushed its general return to campus from Sept. 13 to Nov. 1, even though face-to-face instruction will mostly continue as scheduled.

I'm wondering if the plans posted to the google sheet have changed at all for you since you shared this information. Any changes since to your hours or other plans to open?

Here's TCC's approach to your questions, Dawn:

Are you going to be open regular days and hours?

We plan to open M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Fall

Will you have any rules about study rooms?

No study room use although there are group cubicles in the main area that groups can use

Reserves?

Yes, students can enter the library when they want to check in/out reserves

Curbside/Pickups?

No

Masks?

Yes, masks are required on campus, vaccinated or not

Physical distancing?

I don't believe this is a requirement anymore since we are a vaccinated college, but we will continue to practice some form of physical distancing in the library, whether at the front counter for students waiting to check out materials or in the use of every other computer in the library.

Will you have any time or space limits in place for patron/staff interaction?

No, just encouraging staff to practice social distancing when they can.

As of right now, our unions still have not negotiated with administration despite the administration announcing that the college would be requiring vaccinations in the fall, so there's a lot that's up in the air.

Still, here's what our plan is for the library at this point:

  *   Open less than pre-pandemic due to staffing cuts. Probably M-Th 9am-6pm; F 9am-1pm or something similar.
  *   Study rooms have been open with a limit of one group per day, during the summer. Social distancing requirements are apparently going away in the fall and if that happens, we may adjust. See masks below.
  *   Reserves are and will continue to be available.
  *   Curbside has declined significantly since we reopened this quarter. We will probably discontinue all curbside services except for printing, which we may do since we've been covering all student printing costs with the bookstore closed (the bookstore is responsible for re-up cards for student printing).
  *   Masks will continue to be required by all at the college, even after vaccination requirements. Masks work, by the way. Spread the news.
  *   We've removed all in-person librarian consultation during the summer but will probably bring it back in the fall.
  *   But yes, the variant.
  *   So all these points may be moot or mutated.
