NewsBank Partnership: Reminder for all Washington Libraries

We would like to remind everyone about the Washington State Library/NewsBank partnership and the opportunities available to you through the end of 2022.

  * For those who have not yet signed up for the WSL/NewsBank program:
     * You are still eligible for a 50% subsidy from WSL on a 1-year subscription when you sign up before 12/31/2021
     * This includes current NewsBank customers who upgrade to the current edition of Access World News
  * For those who have signed up already, a reminder for planning purposes that your subsidy in 2022 will be 25%

The current edition of Access World News collection includes more than 12,000 sources, featuring more than 150 Washington news publications and Integrated Collections (text, web only, and image editions) for the following titles:
- The Seattle Times
- The Bellingham Herald
- Kitsap Sun
- The News Tribune
- The Olympian
- Tri-City Herald

Schools and Public Libraries also benefit from ResearchRocket, for younger learners.

The libraries participating in the program have found patrons, student and faculty are searching not just local sources, but national and international sources as well. It really is becoming an interconnected world!

Based on an analysis provided by NewsBank, here is a sample of the most searched topics across participating libraries:

- Environmental issues

- Mental health

- Race relations/human rights

- Homeless

- Gun Control

NewsBank has been an excellent partner throughout the program providing strong customer service and individualized training opportunities as well as Marketing Resource Centers to help you build awareness and drive engagement for these databases.

Please contact Will Stuivenga<mailto:will.stuivenga at sos.wa.gov> or a member of the NewsBank team<https://www.newsbank.com/sites/default/files/ws-libraries/NB-Contacts-for-WA.pdf> with any questions.

Best,
Mike
