[LIBRARYDIR] recent interview questions?

Just my 2 cents... and not a specific list of questions...

But for any kind of ILS administrator /ILS functional job, I've typically seen two rounds / types of interview questions used (maybe one round, if all day interviews; or maybe round 1 by phone, and then round 2 in person)

Round 1 - Candidate general strengths / suitability / fit

All the classic HR questions like 'where do you see yourself... ' , 'tell me about a time you failed... ' , 'what strengths can you bring to the organization... '

Round 2 - Functional / technical

Depending on the specific duties of the position, questions along the lines of...

'You're asked to create for search and presentation a collection representing our Films on Demand titles. How would you go about it? What tools / resources would you use? How would you maintain the collection over time?"

"The library is asked by the administration to allow faculty to check out items from the library for an entire quarter rather than one month. What steps would you take, both non-technical and technical, to implement the change. What questions would you need to ask? For the technical bits,  feel free to describe the steps for an ILS other than Alma, if you are not currently familiar with Alma."

"The library director has asked to develop a reporting mechanism and plan for weeding the XYZ section f the collection, based on both materials usage and age. Describe, in terms and tools familiar to you from past work experience, how you would approach the project, and what questions you would ask."
