We’ve been sending out the Borrowing Activity notices the week before the end of the quarter and the last week of the quarter to remind people that they have library materials.


The Borrowing Activity Report sends out emails to patrons listing:
- items currently checked out
- items currently overdue/lost
- all outstanding fines/fees

You can send the notices out on-demand via Alma Config >> Circulation >> General >> Fulfillment Jobs Configuration

In the Borrowing Activity Report Job section, click the Run Now button.  (Don't need to change the
Status)

Hi, Cheyenne,

Yakima is first come first served except in rare instances where a student has repeatedly come to check one out and none have been available or the media center has been closed.  If the student asks in such a circumstance, I allow one to be reserved for them.  During the first week of the quarter, we check out only a portion of the laptops each day so by the end of the week there are still some for students who weren’t on campus earlier in the week.  This also spaces out the returns so they don’t all come back on the same day.

Near the end of the quarter, we set the return date as the last day of classes rather than into finals.  We will extend the due date on a case-by-case basis for students who need the laptop to finish papers, etc.  We choose the last day of classes because students often finish their finals and take off, completely forgetting that they need to return something.  This happens a lot with the calculators we circulate for the math department.

Hello all.
You have all been super helpful in sharing your various laptop lending/renting information in the past and I have a new and improved question about this process. How do you determine eligibility or priority for laptop lending? Meaning, is there a certain population of students who are higher priority or have first pass at using a laptop? How do you determine that? Or perhaps you don’t at all and it is simply first come, first served?
We are gearing up for a lending program at RTC and this input would be greatly appreciated.
