Dear Colleagues,

In Fall 2018, colleges enrolled 157,871 full-time equivalent students (FTES) all fund sources, down 2 percent (-3,522 FTES) from fall 2017. The system is projected to end the year with 125,073 state supported FTES for adults and 23,432 FTES for Running Start for a total of 148,504 state supported FTES. Similar enrollment trends continue this year. As more families use dual credit options to reduce the cost of going to college, there is a growing number of Running Start enrollments (up 7 percent, 1,486 FTES from fall 2017) and a declining number of state-supported enrollments for adults (down 3 percent, -3,393 FTES from fall 2017).

Colleges enrolled 40,039 contract funded FTES, up 2 percent (941 FTES) from fall 2017. The small increase in contract funded FTES is primarily due to an increase in Running Start enrollments, counteracted by a drop in the number of international contract enrollments (down 6 percent, -440 FTES).

Enrollments were up for:

*         Apprenticeship: 4,142 FTES, up 15 percent (530 FTES)

* Applied Baccalaureate: 3,435 FTES from 28 colleges offering 92 programs, up 20 percent (561 FTES)

*         eLearning: 49,965 FTES, up 8 percent (3,742 FTES)

*         I-BEST: 3,444 FTES, up 20 percent (586 FTES)

* Running Start: 24,194 FTES, up 7 percent (1,486 FTES)

* Worker Retraining: 5,986 FTES, up 5 percent (309 FTES)

Enrollments were down for:

* Basic Education for Adults: 15,138 FTES, down 7 percent (-1,168 FTES)

* Basic Food, Employment and Training (BFET): 4,756 FTES, down 2 percent (-121 FTES)

* International students (All Funds): 10,284 FTES, down 13 percent (-1,519 FTES)

* International Contract: 6,748 FTES, down 6 percent (-440 FTES)

*         Workfirst: 1,724 FTES, down 10 percent (-193 FTES)
