With Gary Bortel's retirement at the end of December, the Washington State Library is looking for someone to fill an updated IT position. Gary brought a great combination of library experience and high technical skills that included numerous IT certifications.

It would be great to find a replacement that can move forward planning and policy to implement higher levels of rural connectivity, can work with the nuts and bolts of server and network administration along with being able to provide consulting to libraries without sufficient expertise, and in addition still have an MLIS and have worked in the library world.

That is a tall order to fill. Please put the word out to your constituencies. If you know of someone who could take on this statewide role, let them know.
