[LIBRARYDIR] Computing printing

Hi Erica,

We have 5 guest network accounts that we rotate for community visitors. If someone needs to print, we enter the guest credentials into the pay for print kiosk. The kiosk allows students/guests to access the printing accounts. The guest then deposits their money into the attached Jamex bill/coin vending box and then they go back to the computer to print their document. Sometimes money builds up in one of the guest accounts and someone gets lucky. We do warn them not to deposit more than they will use because we can't refund the money. Periodically, two people (generally one is from the business office) empty the Jamex box and count the money. This keeps our auditor happy.

Subject: [LIBRARYDIR] Computing printing

Hello all,

If you have community using your computers, how do you provide printing? We have been selling printer points in the Library but we won't be able to keep our cash register/cash fund after this quarter so we are trying to come up with alternatives. We can send them to the cashier, but they are not open the same hours as the Library so this will mainly impact those coming in during evening and weekend hours. We have a generic printing account so we may be able to use this, but would need to set up some parameters so people don't take advantage of this. If you have protocols for a generic account, those would be useful also.

Thanks,
Erica
