We have one computer for community users. To print they have to save what they want printed on a USB drive and bring it to the desk. We print it for them and collect $.15 a page for black & white or $1.00 for color. We have a cash drawer and deposit funds with the cashier's office throughout the year.
When the college moved to Papercut to manage printing and a card system to release print jobs, we were told we would get cards we could sell to community patrons to pay for printing. It's been over a year and that hasn't happened. At this point I'd rather stay with the cash transactions.

Subject: Computing printing
Hello all,
If you have community using your computers, how do you provide printing? We have been selling printer points in the Library but we won't be able to keep our cash register/cash fund after this quarter so we are trying to come up with alternatives. We can send them to the cashier, but they are not open the same hours as the Library so this will mainly impact those coming in during evening and weekend hours. We have a generic printing account so we may be able to use this, but would need to set up some parameters so people don't take advantage of this. If you have protocols for a generic account, those would be useful also.
Thanks,
Erica
