[LIBRARYDIR] B&N college bookstores

One problem we face is at the end of a quarter some students put rented textbooks in our library book drop instead of returning them to the bookstore. There is no student identification on the books and the bookstore doesn't keep track of what book goes to whom, so if there is any credit or refund the students miss out. We put a notice in the opening of the book drop but it hasn't stopped the problem.

For those of you whose bookstores are run by Barnes and Noble, how is that working out (versus if your store was previously independent)? Any positive or negative effects for OER initiatives, course packs, or the library?

This request was also posted on CLAMS by my librarian, Amy Herman.

Thanks,
Erica
