[LIBRARYDIR] Electronic Resources Project VOLUNTEER

Dear colleagues,

I am so happy you all are doing this survey! As you saw in the LLC report, we were not able, in the first iteration, to get CTC libraries into the Newsbank pilot, but we have that as a priority for the next round. Newsbank also excluded school libraries. As part of setting up the pilot with Newsbank, we asked them to project pricing for the next 5 years, so we don't start the pilot and then learn it's not affordable to our users. It became too much work for the Newsbank sales team at address every library in the state, so we had to scope down the project. We were slated to start January 1, and we need to get started!

I hope you will have a chance to see that content once it's available around the state, for I am very interested in learning what you all need, speaking of electronic resources, and what you value the most. I would like us to spend our federal money where it is most valued.

I look forward to attending the spring meeting on Monday, April 16 (finally) and I apologize for not attending since last October-there are SO many meetings and conferences in library-land!! I am very grateful to Jeff Martin for keeping in touch with all of you and for attending your meetings in my absence.

Hi all,

At yesterday's LLC meeting, the WACTCLC Exec Committee asked for a volunteer to work with Wade, Andrew, Candice and Howard on a short term electronic resources project. We are seeking someone to work with this team to look at the electronic resources we share across the state as well as what the CTC library priorities  might be around Electronic Resources.  We're hoping this group will be able to present a preliminary report that we can respond to at the April LLC meeting.
