[LIBRARYDIR] Leg. Staff Question

No, I am not aware of any such rule in the state. Many of us serve the public, but the college library mission is significantly different from public libraries.

I've gathered research in the past about community college/public library mergers, but not recently. I've never run across any such requirement.

BTW, these mergers are often top down and create a lot of internal conflict.

Subject: [LIBRARYDIR] Leg. Staff Question

Hi

One of our offices at SBCTC got the following question from legislative staff yesterday and I said I ask you all if you knew of any such rule - we do not.

Do you know of any requirement that if a public higher ed campus, in this case, a community college, has a campus library, that 500sqft must be used for a public library?

Thanks in advance for any knowledge you can share!

Mark
