[LIBRARYDIR] fines for reserves?

Our system requires that if the checkout is hourly, the fines are hourly; if the checkout is daily, the fines are daily.  After two notices, we send a bill for replacement.  We would not charge more than the value of the item.  Yes, we put blocks on the student accounts.  They can't register or get transcripts without seeing us to resolve the problem.  Sometimes we temporarily lift the block to allow a student to register.

Good afternoon,

We are evaluating our current fines structure around Reserve items (course texts and supplemental course materials) and I was wondering how other libraries address fines for Reserves. In the event the material is able to be taken out of the library (I know some are library-use-only so they never leave), how are fines assessed on those items? Daily? Hourly? Do they cap out? Do holds go on student accounts for abusing library reserves?
