[GuidedPathways] One Week Away: Student Success Center Lunch & Learn 10/24

The Oregon Student Success Center, Arizona Center for Community College Success, and Washington Student Success Center & Strategic Initiatives are collectively hosting a 2022-2023 lunch-and-learn 12 part webinar series on Student Success Centers. This is a reminder that the first webinar is next Monday, October 24 at 12pm PT (register here<https://education-first.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAocOqqqjIiH9OUIhgrbYC-pA4KsZ6zI2Io>). The series will be reserved for speakers to discuss best practices and learnings in implementation and execution planning and for faculty and staff to learn from each other. In the first webinar, Dr. Chris McGilvray of Front Range Community College (Colorado) will focus on an overview of the faculty role in guided pathways.

Chris McGilvray has helped individuals succeed for more than twenty years in higher education and industry, while growing successful businesses and organizations as an educator, manager, mentor and entrepreneur. Chris received a Doctorate Degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Organizational Development and Change from Colorado Technical University, earning distinction in Organizational Development and Entrepreneurship. Chris' dissertation - Entrepreneurial Competencies of Business Owners - required extensive qualitative research into espoused and actual competencies performed by business owners of brick and mortar business models. Chris received a Master's in Business Administration from Webster University and received a Bachelors of Science in Business Management from the University of Northern Colorado.

In addition to his expertise in academic subjects, Chris is also an active community leader serving as the Chair of the Board of Director for the Longmont Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Board of Director for the Longmont Downtown Development Authority, member of the Education Committee and founder & advisor to the Chamber Student Network. He has held a variety of different leadership roles for Target Corporation and Office Depot ranging from corporate trainer, field merchandiser, store management and talent development. He owns Longmont Liquors, recently recognized as Small Business of the Year through the Longmont Chamber of Commerce. He has been working with Front Range Community College for eight years and is currently the Chair for Business and Manufacturing at the Boulder County Campus. In Spring 2022, Chris received the Teaching Excellence Award representing the great faculty at FRCC.

This webinar will consist of the first 30 minutes in which Dr. Chris McGilvray will share his experience, followed by another 30 minutes of small group discussion sessions, and close out with the last 30 minutes for office hours with the speaker. We would love to see you there! All college faculty and staff are welcome. All future webinars will be hosted in a similar format and take place on Mondays from 12pm-1:30pm PT. More details will be shared about upcoming sessions at a later time.
